LAS VEGAS, Nevada and VANCOUVER, B.C. — Coach, writer and podcaster Tim O’Connor has been appointed Mental Performance Coach of the Golf Tier System Academy LLC (GTS) in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A. and Zone Golf Academy Inc. (ZGA) in Richmond, B.C., Canada.
O’Connor brings more than 20 years of experience facilitating personal growth and coaching golfers in mental performance to his role coaching players aiming to secure golf scholarships at U.S. colleges.
“Drawing on his vast experience in writing about golf and coaching, Tim is incredibly adept in coaching golfers in the skills of mental performance, which are essential for players seeking college scholarships or university placement and taking their games to a higher level,” said T.J. Atley, CEO and Director of Golf at Golf Tier System Academy and Zone Golf Academy.
From his base in Guelph, Ontario, O’Connor will coach GTS and Zone Golf Academy players online and in-person during events in Las Vegas and Richmond.
“I’m excited to work with TJ and her team who are uniquely skilled in leading young golfers through the process of successfully securing athletic placements, improving their golf games and increasing their academic skills,” O’Connor said.
O’Connor is the former Head Coach of the University of Guelph team. An award-winning golf writer, he is the author of five books, including The Feeling of Greatness: The Moe Norman Story, and Getting Unstuck: 7 Transformational Practices for Golf Nerds.
He is co-host with “Humble” Howard Glassman of the Swing Thoughts podcast, which has produced more than 300 episodes since launching in 2015. O’Connor writes the Up & Down newsletter on the Substack platform.
O’Connor came into coaching following a career as music critic for the Canadian Press news agency and as a freelance golf writer and broadcaster. Tim is enshrined in the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame as a writer.
He is also a bass player in punk rock band C.I.D., based in Guelph, Ontario.
