TORONTO (January 19, 2010) - Nike Golf's PGA European Tour season has
begun on a dominant note, with three out of the first four tournaments being
won by a Swoosh athlete.
Charl Schwartzel's six-shot victory at last week's Joburg Open marked his
second consecutive win, was the fifth of his career, and moved him to 35th
in the World Rankings.
Using his full bag of Nike Golf equipment, including the new VR STR8-FIT
driver which will be available in golf stores in just over a week, Schwartzel
has put himself in position to earn a coveted spot in the 2010 Masters Tournament.
Schwartzel's back-to-back wins follow fellow Nike athlete Pablo Martin's victory
at the European Tour's season opener, the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
For the second successive week, Schwartzel delivered an impressive display of
pin-seeking iron shots with the combination of Nike's successful ONE Tour D ball
and his VR Blades and VR wedges.
"I am confident in myself, my game and my equipment and the last two weeks have
proven that," said Schwartzel. "It's an unbelievable way to start the season and
I hope to continue the momentum and build on this success."
Schwartzel also wore Nike Golf apparel and footwear.
