TORONTO (December 9, 2009) - Nike Golf athlete Amanda Blumenherst secured her LPGA Tour card by finishing with medalist honors at the 2009 LPGA Tour Final Qualifying Tournament. Blumenherst, who joined the Nike Golf Tour staff in June 2009, used some of Nike Golf's new products that will be available this spring to help guide her to victory, including the new Nike VR STR8-FIT Tour driver as well as the Nike SQ MACHSPEED 3-Wood and SQ MACHSPEED Hybrid. Blumenherst also used Nike's VR Full Cavity irons, which she has had in her bag since 2008.
"I hit my driver really well today... but my irons were just like radar," said Blumenherst after her win. "They were just flying right at the pin. Today my short game picked up the slack."
Rounding out Blumenherst's arsenal were her Nike VR 50 and 55 degree wedges and her 60 degree Nike SV wedge. She wore Nike Golf apparel and Nike footwear all week. During her final round, she wore her lucky Nike LIVESTRONG shirt.
Blumenherst, who debuted as a professional in June of this year, competed in five LPGA Tour tournaments and her best finish was a T5 finish at the CVS Pharmacy LPGA Challenge. She is a three-time national collegiate player of the year at Duke University and winner of the 2008 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.
